Is submitting a resume a part of the nominating process? Who is requesting a resume/

Familiarity with the documents of the HOA - CCRs, bylaws, rules, etc and previous service on any other board might help. Getting along with groups is important. Financial, social, committee, or clerical experience helps, too.

...also, WHY you want to be on the Board; how long you've lived there; issues you'd like to see resolved; and most importantly (if you agree with this) ensuring the by-laws and documents are being enforced and adhered to.

Anna,

Wow, to have the luxury to ask why someone want's to serve on the board is amazing. We are happy if we get 3 (our minimum) people to run each election. We are ecstatic if there are actually 5 (our maximum) and I've only been to two meetings that there were more than 5.

This doesn't even discuss trying to fill committee seats with volunteers.

April,

Just contact the Board and let them know your interested. This can be done by e-mail, letter or phone call. Even if not asked to fill the position, you should attend a couple of the board meetings to show an interest and see what is going on within your community. Then perhaps, toss your hat into the ring at election time.

Tim
