Recently our elections was held. Ballots was counted behind closed doors, the people comin gin with there ballots, should have signed a roster and the ballots given to the counters. This was not done and the ballots was tossed out. Where can I find the Florida State Statues on this? Thanks

Were the polls officially closed by the president? They probably were if the counting was taking place.

People should have known when the election was to take place at the meeting. They were late. Too bad for them.

If you are incorporated as a nonprofit, see FL 617

Additionally, the association would need to comply with anything about elections contained in FL 718 (if a condominium) or FL 720 (if an HOA) and your own governing documents (CC&Rs, Bylaws, etc.).

As others have posted, ballots should only be counted after the polls are closed and once the polls are closed, no further votes may be cast.

Did the people who came in arrive before or after the polls were closed?

Roberts Rules says the polls can be re-opened, but only after a majority vote AND if the ballots have not yet been counted.

Of course, FL statutes supercede this. I don't know if any apply, being from Michigan, the Great Lakes State.
