Are they like overseers of all things landscaping? For example, if a tree line needs trimming...would they contact the landscaping company and order it done. How does it work.

Hi Paul:

Yes they generally oversee any landscaping for the “common area” property. The landscape committee as a general rule would oversee any common property landscape issues. If there is a committee then potentially they would be given a minor budget in which they themselves could approve the replacement of minor items such as sprinkler heads, and also control lawn mowing, fertilizing, tree trimming, replacing shrubs, etc. They also would implement and submit a budget to the board for any major items to be considered in the reserve fund such as replacing irrigation pump, irrigation piping, etc.

Paul - you don't say how large you are or if you have a management company or a maintenance company that is also doing things on the grounds.

The "landscape committee" could be responsible for something small, like planting annuals at the front entrance or could be responsible for the tasks listed above in another post.

Your board should give the landscape committee its assignment (job description) and a budget. You will know by the budget just how much you can do.

Your committee has a big job as 480 acre campus is alot of turf to cover. Have you been given a budget for the committee?
