I am new board member in our HOA, CA. We have employees from a management company and we send out employees uniforms to laundry service. According to and studying our monthly financial report these were my findings. Our average uniforms laundry was $200.00 per month, it goes up to $500.00 per month after we have new management company with a new general manager. I came across two invoices, picked up at GM's private home witch charged pick up fee and another invoice showing whole sets of bedding(pillow cases, sheets and comforter) been laundered. Order for me to review all the invoice in questionable month I need authorization letter from our president to laundry service. I am a Treasurer but our president is ignoring my request so I am stuck here not knowing what to do.
Anyone with any advise?

As a MEMBER of the HOA let alone a Board member you are entitled to inspect the HOA's records including invoices with a few exceptions. I would suggest you visit davis-stirling.com (a legal website) for the applicable statutes and how to advice.

This should get you to the Records Inspection Menu: http://www.davis-stirling.com/MainIndex/RecordsMenu/tabid/268/Default.aspx#axzz1rxnbDic4

Your board meeting is not held in the Situation Room of the White House. It's not life or death. Let people in, keep it positive, then go home and get a good night's sleep. If you hold off drinking until after the meeting, instead of before or during, you're probably doing OK. JosephW

Homeowner or not, as a BOD Member you can request that an item for discussion be added to to the next BOD Agenda. When the item comes up, the floor (time/right to explain the agenda item) of the BOD Meeting will be handed to you. Be prepared.

Now some BOD's will ask for information/material/etc. concerning an item be prepared/presented to BOD Members ahead of time, but the item for discussion cannot be denied.

Be prepared.
