What would you call this, an Entry Gate or Burglar Bars?
How would you feel if the type of Entry Gate were being installed in you Subdivision?
Would it get approval by your HOA?
Do you feel this type of fencing makes the area appear to have a crime problem?
I’m on our HOA Board here in Pasadena, Texas.
This homeowner installed this gate without ARC approval.
He was sent a letter asking for it to be removed because our Subdivision Restrictive Covenants prohibit Burglar Bars. It also restricts all fences to a 6’manumax height.
It also says the only acceptable fence materials shall be brick or wood.
This homeowner would not remove the gate and appealed the decision of the Board. I was not there for the appeal meeting because I had to work. The Board did not want to change the date of this meeting even though two of us could not be there.
I was very surprised the next day when I found out this homeowner talked the Board into approving this gate. The president said at the first meeting, he liked it. It was very nice and not a cheap looking gate like most are. It was voted down at this first meeting
I found out another board member was thinking of getting a gate like this one. So now he is voting yes, because they are trying to call it an Entry Gate. He asked me if he wanted this gate would I vote against him on it. I had no answer for him. I was in disbelief he was even asking me to answer this question.
I’ve emailed the board asking how can they approve this while breaking Subdivision Restrictive Covenants Rules?
I’m still waiting on this answer.
How do make the Subdivision Restrictive Covenants Rules if they want to cut deals?
Should I fight this or give up and let them have their Entry Gates or Burglar Bars?
Please answer my questions above, I want to know if I’m over reacting this issue.
Thanks
