WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR WAIVING ASSOCIATION DUES?

Gloria,

I doubt you'll find any. In fact I wouldn't be afraid to bet that your CCRs are explicit in saying that every member is required to pay assn dues. The assn dues are the life blood of the assn; everyone must pay their share -- PERIOD!!

I dont think you will find any either. Your docs require everyone to pay dues. Now if you waive someone's dues, 4 years down the road someone else steps in as president or board of directors and notices some dues were waived, which is not allowed, that person could be required to pay back all the waived dues, plus interest and fines.

Why? Because its a legal document which states you must pay your dues. Now there are clever ways to get around this, but the person still has to pay the dues.

Never waive association dues. It will come back to haunt you.
