Greetings and Happy Holidays to everyone from Florida.

I've mentioned some time ago, that my neighbor who lives two doors down from us, looked over my shoulder at my property tax bill three years ago, and was upset that my bill was much lower than his.

Then, in 2004, he got himself on the Board as VP. Managed to involve another board member, who was once president of the board several years ago to have his wife who was on a committee, e-mail the property appraiser's office.

So, this woman contacts the property appraisers office twice. I have both copies of those e-mails, and I wrote her a letter. I referenced both of her e-mails within my letter, and I also enclosed copies of both of her e-mails. The very day she received my letter with copies of both of her e-mails from me, she called the Property Appraiser's office and cursed them for sending me her
e-mails.

Her first e-mail, dated Saturday, February 26, 2005, states, ā€œ Can you tell me what makes you totally disabled that you don’t have to pay taxes? (our address) She works and he works and is even doing roofing. Does anyone check up on these people.ā€

My answer to "she works" quote: B, where do you believe I work? I do not work. I am totally disabled, and I am also an Veteran of the Army. Unquote.

Her second e-mail dated, Tuesday, March 29, 2005, ā€œA month ago, I sent in an E-mail regarding (our address) having a total disability code. I was informed that it was wrong and it was being changed. I notice that the web page is still reflecting total disability for this property even though the woman who was disabled die several years ago. (who was my mother, and this woman saw my mother once, and did not ever speak a word to each other)I guess I am just upset that some don’t pay taxes while I have to work to pay taxes."

Because of her e-mails, the property appriaser's office caught their clerical error.

My answer quote: We have two letters from the Property Appraiser’s Office which states, we did nothing wrong, and that the Property Appraiser’s Office accepts full responsibility. However, I would like to share with you what, Ms. J, who is the Special Counsel from the Property Appraiser’s office wrote us in her recent letter. I quote: I also want to reiterate that we understand that there was no intentional action on your part as it relates to this unfortunate error, and we apologize for any clerical errors on the part of our office. Unquote.

" If there is anything else you would like to know about our business, please do not hesitate to contact us personally. Sincerely,"

Years before this happened, we have stayed away from him. We have ignored him. We do not look to his direction, even when he makes a noise that would cause us to look his direction. By now, to us this man does not exist.

This man is 72 years old. No lie, he's seven feet tall, and is a diabetic. He is no longer the VP, but is now a two year board member.

Two weeks ago,our new neighbors told me that this same man paid them a visit. Our new neighbors who have only lived here since August, live directly across the street from us. They told me that this board member told them that no one allows me in their yard or their home, because I'm crazy, and then he handed them a small typed sheet of paper with a name of an police officer and the police station's non emergancy number. He told them this police officer, had a file on me, and he could not discuss it, but if they were to call him, he would tell them what it was about.

I called the police station's records department. I gave her the information on him and then on myself, and asked if he has some kind of a complaint against me, I know nothing about? She said, "NO, but you have a complaint against him from June of this year as a Peeping Tom."

Now, why do you suppose he would want to bring such a thing to anyone's attention to that file?

Then, the following week, I'm walking on the side walk across from where I live to go check my mail. I cross the street to my driveway, and from out of no where, he's 3ft. from me speaking real mean like and low so no one can hear him, but me.

He called me a stuck up "B", and threaten to make my life a living hell. I called 911. Two police officers went to his home. He told them he just felt like venting. I have what happened that day documented that he was 3 ft. away from me when he threatened me. The new neighbor from across the street told the police officer about his visit from the week before, and that I leave everyone alone and mind my own business, and since they've been here the short time they have, they see this man only has a problem with me.

So, if he threatens me again, I will call the police again. Maybe after coming here so many times because he wants to vent his anger towards me, they might do something, ya think?

My husband wants me to start carrying mase, and spray him with it the next time he gets too close. My husband is serious, he is very afraid this man will become violent towards me.

I'm open for suggestions as to what to do. The President does not care. Nor does anyone else on the Board.

Thank you very much,
Audrey

If you are feeling physically threatened, go to the police department and discuss the matter with them in person. They will likely document your concerns and direct you to get a restraining order.

No...a piece of paper is not going to keep someone away from you if they actually want to hurt you. However, it makes it a whole lot easier to arrest the individual before it gets to a boiling point.

I agree with your husband....carry mace. But- do not ever use t unless you absolutely have to due to your liability. It will give you a little 'security' if nothing else.

Best of luck,
Lisa

Happy Holidays to you Lisa, and thank your for our response.

Long before this insident happened, I went to the police station several times, and was told there is nothing that they can do.

Before he threatened me that day he had already gone over to the new neighbors house to inform them I was crazy and to contact a particular police officer, at their non emergancy number.

I called Records Department to find out if he had filed a complaint against me that I did not know about. There isn't one. But, I have one against him from this past June as a Peeping Tom. Why would he want these people to know about such a file?

The President doesn't care what he does. I feel what this board members behavior even on his off time, is a reflection of the Board. Am I wrong?

I do have that day he threatened me documented. I had asked the same officer a fews days later, how many times do I have to call you before you hospitalize him to have him to be evaluated Since he's 72 years old, I believe he is senile.

I stay as far away from him as possible, but he just continues to come towards me. The new neighbors told the police officer, I mind my own business, and stay away from him. He has no problems with anyone else on this street, but with me.

The police officer told me not to mase him, just call them, and they will come out to help me. Such good that does.

Enjoy your holidays, and stay safe,
Audrey

Well, since everyone is at a loss as to what do with a
72 year old seven foot tall irate board member who's behavior is unbecoming of a board member, to a homeowner, I guess, I'm going to call the police on him every time he comes near me and threatens me.

A board member, who is behaving this irrationally towards a homeowner, should resgin. Do you agree?

Greetings!

Happy New Year to you!

Seems like you have yourself a pickle. I certainly believe this man does not belong on your board at all!

Does he just bother you on a personal level or does he threaten you with HOA action? In other words, is his terrible behavior because he is on the board or because he is, simply put, a cranky old man and poor neighbor?

If it is about HOA matters, the board should be notified. However, if it is personal,in my old age I have learned that there's not much you can do about a cranky old man!

Best wishes!

Happy New Year to you too, Laine!

Oh darn it, there's nothing much I can do about a cranky old man? Shucks. It's on a personal level.

We used to be good neighbors, until he breached my privacy with my mail, looked at it w/o my permission and told everyone he could about what he saw. Ever since, he has lied about doing so to his wife and the President of our HOA.

He done lots of things about me, towards me, and when I tell anyone, because they ask me about what he says about me, and I tell them, he believes I am the one who is lying, and I better stop talking about him or he'll sue me. When he's the one who's actually slandering me. He should know better.

I guess, whether it's possitive or negivative attention, it's attention just the same.

I ignore him and deliberately stay away from him,at all cost. This has gone on for so long, when he is outside, I behave as if he does not exist to me at all. Although, he makes some kind of a noise to get me to look his direction.

It's a game. It's his game. I do not want to play.

I deliver the monthly Newsletter, which includes his house, and I now put it in a bag with a small rock so it doesn't blow away and throw it on his driveway instead of walking onto his property to his front door like I used to. He is dangerous, and my husband believes he will do something soon to hurt me.

He just cannot stay away from me. He lives two doors down from me, and makes no bones about watching every move I make as long as I'm outside. My husband says is dangerous, and believes he will do something soon to hurt me.

If he continues to threaten me, I'll just have to continue to call the police, even though it bothers me to have to do it. Oh well, ya know, life is so short and precious to have to look over my shoulder, and have make sure he's not outside before I go outside. I believe my husband is right, he will some day harm me.

Even so, this kind of caliber of a person has no business on our HOA BOD's.

Take care,
Audrey
