In the interest of getting to know other members, would anyone be interested in seeing a page of member profiles or introductions?

The page may have things like the person's name, their HOA position, a photo (if they like), information about their community (stats, photos, location), etc...

What do you think? Please reply with comments or ideas. Thanks.

I like the idea.
It would be nice to have discussion Forums set up by State. Then I would be able to get advise on issues pertaining to my location, local laws, or even talk to neighbors, or other local HOA's with insight on local contractors.

That would be great. It would be nice to be able to find state specific members to discuss issues with.

Sure, that could be helpful.
Should include size and type of community, e.g.
condos, verses town houses, verses active adult, single family, etc.

Sounds like a great idea.

Belonging to various forums on Yahoo and AOL, the biggest problem is identifying where people live. The laws vary by State and if you live in a condo or HOA. It would be very helpful to have that information so we could reply correctly.

I think it would be a great idea but should be at the individuals option as to whether they want such information displayed or not.
I can see a situation where two or more members of an association who are on opposite sides of a particular situation in their HOA may use the HOATalk website as a battle field with others of either conviction joining in the fray.

Did HOATalk ever implement this? Maybe I'm just not seeing the link? I would really like to meet n greet other Texas HOA persons. This would be a great way to find them!

Much of the information you describe can already be provided in the current profile page, if the member so decides. I think it would be helpful to include the state in the left column along with a picture if the member so provides.

I’m new to this discussion forum. I think that is a great idea. I don’t feel is should be mandatory, by any means but should be available if you want your information, picture, association, or current residency published for anyone you to see. I’ve read the above post and see a majority of the responses, in favor of seeing a page of member profiles or introductions.
Although if not that is fine with me too. I have learned so much from many of you. HOAtalk is great for anyone interested in leaning more about an HOA.

Chuck: I'm with you on having learned a great deal from HOATalk, particulalry from Borch101 and others with far more experience and knowledge than I.
But as to profiles being presented on the site please see my post of 9/03/05.
