Does anyone know of a way to get out of a Beach Assocation Membership? There are two waterfront properties involved for a combined worth of $2M. 140 homes have this deeded to them. I purchased the house 4 years ago and thought it was run as a regular co-op type of situation but it is not. I and several others would prefer to get of out of our membership because of the way the BOD operates. Is there a way to make them buy us out or sell our share in the Association? A lawyer said there is no way out...once you're in, your in, unless you sell your house... but I'm hoping this is not the case. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your reply.

The Association must surely run with the property. You buy one, and buy into the other with the same money. Sometimes, through great difficulty, an Association can be disolved, but that's hardly reasonably possible for a large number of homes.

Read before you sign/buy, especially a home. How much money do you need to spend before you read the fine print. This is all on you. Sorry.
