Has anyone used covers for their outside inground spa? Is it legal? In view that it is heated year-round, does it save money for the HOA to have it covered when not in use? Probably legality is one of the major issues, it could be deemed by inspectors as a hazard

Alex,

I have an above-ground spa in my backyard and I can tell you it does save $$$ to keep it covered when not in use. In fact, just covering it during the nighttime hrs would save a bundle. I've never seen a commercial spa with a cover but don't imagine why it can't be done especially if it's only in use during certain hrs of the day. Our cover is on a stand that is attached to the spa, so it doesn't have to be lifted off and taken away. There may be retractable covers for inground spas, much like those used for swimming pools. IMO, it's certainly worth looking into.
