As I mentioned in a previous discussion, one of our BOD members was hired by our Property Manager, shortly after we hired him. Although she is not working on our property, it has been brought up that he would like her to be on our property.

I have asked this BOD member to disclose this info at an open meeting of the members, and to have the info put into the minutes and to recuse herself from any business going forward that the BOD has to discuss with the property manager.

I see this as a clear conflict of interest, but of course, she does not.

Can I bring this up myself at the meeting if she refuses in the interest of the organization?

Thanks

Pat

Bring up what? something that MIGHT happen?

Don't get excited about this UNLESS or UNTIL she is the property manager on your premises. THEN her service on the board could become complicated - but only in issues involving the PM employee (her) or her work.

Pat, I suggest your Board establish a policy that no Board member may serve as a Managing Agent for your community. Then advise the Property Manager of that policy. However, you can not preclude the Management Company from hiring one of your Board members to work for the MC on other properties they manage. It is your Board's choice to hire a MC and with a good reason restrict the agent(s) you will allow to serve your community.
