How do others handle this? The pool hours are from 0730 am and closed at 10 pm. In view of this, should the pool lights(as well as the spa light) remain all all night or should they be turned off shortly after the pool officially closes? There are no security guards, etc at the pool but signs, of course inform individuals of the pool hours, etc

I would think some kind of safety lights should be on at all times. Libility is a major issue and it should be defined in your insurance policies. Check with your Insurance agent.

I would look to have some low voltage lights that stay on all night. But the main lights should go off when it is time to close the pool.

Hi Alex,

In our HOA, the lights on the fencing around the pool area and the exterior lights on the clubhouse adjacent to the pool stay on all night. The underwater lights in the pool and Jacuzzi are turned off by a timer one hour after the pool area closes each night.

It's enough light to illuminate the pool area and allow our video recording system to tape whatever might be going on, but not so lit up as to attract unwanted visitors.

For our pool, the deck lights are controlled by motion sensors and a photocell. They will come on whenever anybody is in the area. The in-pool lights though are on a timer and are set to come on shortly before sunset and go off around 3:00 AM. By having the lights in the pool on, anybody walking by can see if there is anybody in the pool when they shouldn't be.
