Marvin,

Sorry I cannot answer your questions regarding reimb. of your costs. I don't live in a condo and am not familiar with the rules for this type of a problem.

My reason for responding is to caution you about deducting the cost of this repair from your assessments. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST DOING THIS. If you were to make a payment less than the amount due, your account would be considered delinquent. Delinquest assessments can result in late fees, demand letters (which come with additional costs to you) and eventually foreclosure. Find other ways to show your displeasure with the board's actions!

Was your "handyman" woring for a licensed company? Ask him to re-write you an invoice on his official invoicing work order, then turn that in.

It may be hard for you to get paid, if they think it was done by you and a friend. After this. contract with companies who give you an real bill.

The Board should give all residents a list of licensed contractors, plumbers, handyman services, painters, carpenters, etc who are reliable and have all the proper credentials.

You were probably doing your association a favor by saving them some money. If you have some pictures to show damage that might help.
