Our Finance Ciommittee is evaluating having such a pool by September 10, 2005.

1. Please avise re: building, insurance & operating rules, costs and problems.
2. Has any HOA with such a facility been involved in legal actions? Please advise details.

Our community of 50 homes has an inground pool. Some of the particulars are: We hire a local person licensed by the Health Dept to maintain the pool. This cost approx. $6000 per year. We do not cover our pool during winter, therefore, the pumps run year round, and chemicals are added as needed. Our liability insurance adds another $1200 per year. Our power bill averages about $250 per month. Our pool is unsupervised, with each homeowner having a key to the gate lock. It is necessary to have someone monitor and lock the gate each evening during pool season. Having the pool is great, but is really a costly operation. Just be prepared for additional expenses down the road: Pool must be drained, refilled to make repairs, pump and filter maintenance / replacement. Good Luck and enjoy.
