Does each Association need to have a hurricane/disaster plan in place and posted? Can you site me the statute? Our board all lives out of state and doesn't know. Thanks |

CarrieB, There is no Statute or law that requires or even suggests that the Association have a plan posted. Usually the 55+ communities are very well prepaired and have plans available for their residents, including help for those who are unable to take care of themselves. Also, it depends where in the State you are located as for evacuation routes and some areas are manditory evacs. Basically, you need to prepair for yourself to survive. Publix groceries have a very good booklet that is at their entrys for helping yourself. Some associations will have had a list of things that they either want or require the residents to do for preparation, like removing all outdoor missles like furniture, garbage cans, pools accessories, cut vegetation and branches, and the dreaded basketball hoops, etc. Good luck and store up on batteries. Having been thru the terrible 3, Francis, Jeannie and Wilma in 13 months, we learned fast on being prepaired PS. I have a very new generator for sale. |

Carrie, I live in Florida and I had that same question. Our board also lives out of state and could care less. It would be a nice thing to have a disaster plan in place for the people who live here year round. I also think it is important. There are a lot of elderly people here and without electricity and the elevator they are in a very vulnerable state. Alice |
