Six months ago I became president of our association. During this time I've been trying to retrieve the previous documentation from the VP so I can put them in storage instead of sitting in their garage. For some reason she has not relinquished those documents and is being very sneaky about what she is doing. The rest of the board members have worked with her for the past two years and are accustomed to her ways. This is unacceptable to me and is causing undo strain on the board. The VP is also a member of the architectural committee and is showing favoritism toward her friends as well as herself.

I am at my wits end with this. Please advise on how I can make this a win-win for the board and homeowners.

best thing to do is make a formal, written request with an absolute due date.

then, if the documents aren't turned over by then, you have something to enforce/hang your case upon.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've set dates and called them to remind them, still no response. I saw them one day and ask if there was any reason why they haven't relinquished the documents. They replied that they are too busy and just don't have the time. For they fail to realize I see you when you are lounging outside or at a neighbor's. Yet they don't have the time?

Darlene, I would phone her and set a time to pick them up today or tomorrown. Discuss with the Board her consistent treatment of architectural requests, if they concur remove her from the committee.
