I'm just really curious what happened at your meeting the other evening. Were you all able to agree which person to appoint to your board seat? Please let us know!

Wow, That's a sad day when a newly appointed Board member wants to know how soon he will be removed for being delinquent. Maybe this should be a good time to find a real candidate for down the road. It might happen sooner than you think. Soory to hear the bad news.

Actually I had to stifle a laugh when he said that. I was thinking if this guy were applying for any type of job it would have been "nice meeting you ...goodbye." In addition to making himself look stupid it showed he was lazy. We'll be alright. When our management company does it's monthly walk through a board member goes with them. I intend to ask him to do it and we'll see how eager he is to be on the board. Guess he doesn't know that serving on the board entails more than a once a month meeting.

You make a good point about diversity in condos, but I have to point out that in a ton of condos, now one knows what their neighbor has done, is doing or may want to do, like, worship the shells of Loggerhead turtles. Who knows.

But the diversity on this site seems to be wide spread, and yet, we have agreed to get along. That is a wonderful trick if you can pull it off, and we do a hell of a job of it. I really think your reference to Million dollar condos is off base, but I could be wrong. I just don;t sense any degree of eliteism here. Some great people have passed through here in my time, and I was sorry to see them go and wish them the best. Our condo could be called average for Ocean front, nothing close to 1 million, although I have heard us referred to as the "Tenements" by a snob on the POA Board. Our all emcompassing mandatory regime. But over the years we have managed to maintain our end of the deal and even if the single family homes here on the island may frown on us, we have some desireable features. Your condo might be something less expensive that ours by I think I would take a mix of people that lived in a society than absentee owners searching to make a quick buck. And whether it is your place or ours, we are only as good as the total, so take a deep breath and don't jump the gun. I can assure you that not only I would find the conduct you describe unacceptable, but the keepers of this site may have a word or two about that.
Which brings up an excellent suggestion. I think we that post here should not hesitate to drop a word or two of thanks for the people that have provided this site, and there wonderful ability to let things roam far and wide and NEVER try to lead the band. Thank you HoaTalk.

Robert, funny you mention "tenements" and we had a past president who herself has called our home such. She goes around making "friends" with all the people that SHE considers scumbags, just to get them to vote for her. The day she said to me that she wants a "better class of people in here" was the day I realized her true colors. When I questioned how she proposed to get them to sell and move away she just matter-of-factly stated, "Well by raising the maintenance fees, of course!" Can you imagine that? I went off on a tirade on her explaining that we may not like the lifestyles, or cars, or even LOOKS of some of our neighbors, but this is what we've got and this is who we are, and that I'll have NOTHING to do with trying to price these people right out of their homes.

Everyone is here for one reason or another. They're paying the same maintenance fees as the rest of us. Her motives were pure "me, me, me." Good board members can't and shouldn't think that way, but have to consider every single person in their community.
