We are looking into establishing a web page that would include a community calendar and the calendar would also be used to verify room bookings. Do you know of any great places to look for a user friendly web page and calendar program?

Google and Yahoo have free calendar features. Does your HOA already have a Web site? Perhaps your existing Web site could link to a calendar created on Google or Yahoo. Our master association has sort of a calendar. I think the Web site is well-done anyway. The URL is www.avca.net. I priced Web sites from www.community123.com and www.hoawebsites.com. I may be wrong on the second URL but it's a start. I wanted an interactive Web site that could easily be updated by volunteers. I ended up with a super cool Web site that was incredibly easy to update. There is a great deal of competition for Web site work so I encourage you to check out all of your options. Some management companies are associated with a Web provider who will discount services. You just never know what you may find-

I think a regularly updated calendar is a fantastic way to encourage member involvement, community pride and interest. Good luck!

There are many calendar programs available for free to put on your web site. Having said that, I would recommend that you consider setting up a Content Management System (CMS) on your site. They often have a calendar that will plug in and keep everything looking consistent and easy to maintain.

In my particular case I decided to use Joomla! for our HOA's site. Partly because I saw a few other sites using it. While it doesn't have a calendar itself, there are plenty that will plug into it. The software will also easily let several people collaborate on the content.
