Our Social committee for which i am chairperson, has $1,000. allocated as a line on the budget from the Board HOA. We are a community of presently 330 (approx) homes and will top off at about 440. Our Board expects for us to charge for events or fundraise to pick up the shortfall, since $1,000. is clearly not enough to fund events for an entire year for the amount of homes in our community. Does anyone have suggestions for fundraising ideas that they can share? OR Can anyone advise what they have done within their communities as far as Social Events? Any input is greatly appreciated. |

| In Years past our committee hosted a Fall Festival, with games for the children and small prizes, as well as a pig roast. In the past the roast was covered by sponsors who put up the money to guarantee the roast, however this caused a tremendous amount of disention. Originally the sponsors were told they would receive their money back minus the cost of their plates on the day of the festival. However, the powers that be at that time took it upon themselves to consider this to be a donation and the families who pressed to have their money returned were looked upon in a bad way. So as not to have a repeat performance of this, it would be better for us to know we have enough money in the account to cover all of the expenses to produce the festival. Having said that, the festival for 2005 cost approx $1,700. to produce. At the start of the year Jan 1 2006 we had $1,000. on the budget, and some left over funds from last years festival that were raised by selling plates of food at $5.00 each and holding various raffles where items had been donated by local merchants. We also hosted alot of events at no charge so the money has been depleteing. For example - free hot dogs at the annual pool opening, mixers and papergoods for an adult social, boxes of sweethearts delivered to every home for Valentine's day, just to nmae a few. i think it would be fair to say we need to raise about at least another $1,000. - $1,500. to cover all anticipated events for the balance of the year. I believe we currently are at a balnce of about $600. Hope this helps explain. Open to suggestions and ideas |

That is about how much our Social Fund has allocated. The Social Director rents out the clubhouse for private parties at $250 with the agreement that members still have access to the locker rooms, sauna and pool area. This hasn't cut down on rentals. We also hold ice cream socials that bring money in and film nights with popcorn sales. (She is an Ebay fanatic and recently acquired a used popcorn machine.) The biggest money maker is a combined pizza and karaoke. With an arrangement through Papa Murphy's, the membership can pre-order pizza for pick up at our clubhouse and we make so much per. They are 'take & bakes' so we eat our pizzas at home and come back for karaoke, pool, ping pong, darts and table hockey. These events occur every weekend and the money keeps coming in. |
