To all that post here on HOAtalk, the sponsers, the lurkers and everyone in between...

To those that have lost a loved one this year...

To those who have welcomed new family members (child, in-laws, etc)...

To those that have loved ones serving, wearing the American flag on a shoulder (military)...

To those who will be "without" something; but remember the things they have...

To those who spend countless "volunteer" hours working on behalf of their communities...

To those that keep all of use safe (Police, EMS, Fire)...

... and for anyone that I have missed...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS !!!

We, as a Board, did a very special thing this year. We remembered EVERY SINGLE person in our small community. We wrote a special holiday card to every resident and delivered it to them. For the FIRST time in the history of our association we put up decorations. (It's something people have asked for for years.) We hung wreaths on the stairwells and put a red bow on the railing in front of every door. Simple. Very simple. But the tears, and the smiles and the THANK YOU'S were so heartfelt. We had older residents actually taking pictures, of the decorations to send home to the "kids".

There had been so much hatred, and power struggles and in-fighting among past boards that there was always a "hostile" feeling around here. Nothing was ever done for the members. We were also prepared for the "haters" who would question why we spent "their" money for decorations. Well we didn't. We all chipped in our personal money; sold obsolete items; and donated decorations we didn't need anymore. We explained to everyone that things were a little 'sparce' this year, yet we'd add more each year. Now everyone seems to be in the spirit, telling us that they will donate items no longer needed, too, for next year!

It's baby-steps like this that let our community know we're working for THEM. We (the GREAT new board we now have) really do care about our neighbors.

Jadedone, I admire your post. I think you remembered everyone.

Happy Holidays and peace to you all and your families.

AnnaD, I like babysteps.

My husband and I donated a very large wreath to our HOA this year. It's HUGE and is lighted and still works great, but my husband is just not able to put it up anymore. It's the kind that is meant to go on the exterior of a house in front of a large display window.

Well, we tried as hard as we could to get someone to take it and put it up, but don'tchya know, everyone just scattered to the four corners like the wind!

This would have been the first year we would have had decorations at our entrance, and it would have been free!

But that dang "hitch" about someone actually doing some work to put it up - - -

If my husband could have done it, we would probably still have it, so I could NOT ask him to put it up.

Oh well. Maybe they'll figure it out by next year!

LOL

Hope everyone here had a safe and happy holiday.
