Hi Everyone,

HOATalk would like to congratulate one of our sponsors, Dr. Gloria Martinez (GloriaM) of Faith Management Services on receiving her doctorate degree in Business Administration in Management.

Of interest to HOATalk members is that her thesis was her book on community associations.

Here's her professor's comments on her book:
"I hereby PASS Gloria J. Martinez’s dissertation entitled A Guide to Community Living and award her the degree of Doctor of Business Administration in Management. This dissertation, which is actually a previously published book, demonstrates a breadth and depth of knowledge about its subject that can only come from a true business person—one who lives what she has written about and has the experience and savvy to back up her written words. Drawing upon her life experience as well as a variety of sources, Dr. Martinez clearly and precisely sheds a fresh light of insight upon such subjects as Homeowners’ Associations, general statutes, local ordinances, and city, state, and FCC laws. Although I am fairly well-versed in many of these topics, I found myself learning new insights and rediscovering important knowledge I had not thought about for quite some time. Dr. Martinez wisely concludes that “education and knowledge are power” regarding life in a community run by a homeowners’ association. I applaud Dr. Martinez for her excellent efforts, for which she richly deserves her doctorate degree from Almeda University."

Best Regards,
HOATalk

Thank you Dottie. It only proves you are never too old to further your education. In 2001, I received my MBA and then decided to go further and get my doctorate. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

GloriaM: I would like to join with the others to offer my sincere congrats to you on a Job Well Done! I always read your posts with interest and have learned much from you. Perhaps some day we will see your name as being successful with our U.S. legislature on improving Homeowner Association laws.
Again, I wish you further success in your career.

Thank you, actually I am already trying to get it in the feredal goverment rather than allowing each state to have their various crazy laws. I don't think this should be left up to the individual states and I believe the Federal Goverment needs to have a law that affects every state in not only safeguarding homeowners but the HOA itself.

With bankruptcies and foreclosures today HOA's bottom line is really hurting the operations of HOA's today.

I would also like to see laws safeguarding HOA's from boards or MC's that are not so honest.

Thank you for your kind words. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year.
