Our community has a web site currently and are contenplating adding a Forum to the site. I have heard some communities have problems with this type of service. I would like to know if ther is a community with a successful forum on their website? How do you protect the HOA from hostile messages? How do you protect residents from other residents hostile comments? Did you have some form of legal advice before entering into such a service?

HOATalk is run by Community123.com who builds community websites. If board members have concerns about a community forum, here's a few features we offer:
(1) Turn on message approval, so that no message appears on the forum until approved by a moderator.
(2) Display a set of clear posting rules on the forum page.
(3) Offer a security feature that allows the Board to remove the posting ability of a member, if the member abuses the forum.
(4) Ensure the forum is 'members-only' and password protected.

Best Regards,
