I'm a board member which represents our HOA in a swim club. The swim club services several HOAs in our (mostly vacation home) community. A homeowner of one of the associations has decided for the purpose of a letter and writing harassment campaign to share, without prior authorization, the email and permanent home addresses of all of the HOA swim representatives. I can't but think this is illegal and dangerous, we don't know a lot of these people (or their mind sets)and have minor children at home. Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful.

I would expect that that information would have to be provided if asked by a member.

Simply block the individuals you do not want to hear from.

This is also why I do not use my home email for Association business.

Michael

Can we assume at sometime members gave out their Email addresses? If so, they cast them upon the Internet waters for all to see.

I do not condone what the member is doing but that is a different subject.

It appears to me this is not an HOA issue unless the HOA wants to pursue the "Swim Club" who is comprised of many HOA's. The HOA itself is responsible for the information regarding their members and generally members have to agree to have their information listed. The "Swim Club" is a separate entity and that club is responsible for their information available to their members. Again, they have that information because it was provided to them by their Swim Club members. It appears the "Swim Club" is he entity who needs to smack the individual who may have released information.

. . .I can't but think this is illegal and dangerous . . .

MicahelD25 NY : "Illegal", respectfully, under which State or Federal law(s) ?

What "danger" respectfully do you think it raises ?
