I know everyone has seen my post regarding a recall election which is under way for one of our HOA Board members.

First, I noticed all the signs one of the supporters had been taken down. The signs did not say ANYTHING about the person who is being recalled, but rather reminded of the deadline, and that they can add their names to the ballot etc. Thats frustrating and it finally stopped after the 3rd day of being taking down and someone replacing each and every one..

One of the petition signers, one of the main "supporters" actually admitted " I didn't mail my ballot in" " I wasn't sure what to do with it or how to vote!!" (She "wasn't sure what to do with the BALLOT?" she signed the petition to remove our president!!!) People like this really exhist and live in every HOA out there.

Pardon me whilst I stand here next to this hard wall and KNOCK my head against it. It's frustrating........... Thank you for letting me vent. I know you all may or may not relate on some level to the horrific apathy that is a virus amongst HOA's.

Dont give up or get frustrated... Recalling a director is a long task with several people who feel the same way but don't want to put in the work to help.. Be prepared to defend yourself from negative attacks, because the recall person will always take it personal.. eventually people will see the truth when you give them plenty of evidence to document what you are saying... Be strong and stay focused on your mission, (to create a better community)

Fiona, what you have to keep in mind is at the end of the day the people who live in HOA's are just that - people with all the foils and foibles that go with that condition. You run the gamut from control freak to laid-back and everything in between. Serving on the Board is like herding cats, be happy if you can get the majority of them to go in the direction you want them to.

Darn you Glen - I had to look that one up

foible - "a minor flaw or shortcoming in character or behavior"

Fiona,

I want to echo what others have said. All you can do is make the information available and hope that an the member will read the information and make an informed decision. Feel free to vent, you are amongst friends.

BTW - I find walking the streets at night muttering to myself to be less painful than banging your head against the wall.

Thank you all. I must say I came home after a long day at work... and!!! Guess what?? All of the nice polite flyers that have been posted were removed again.. One was actually partially left hanging in a public place.

Well, I decided not to give up. For each removed flyer we have decided to keep hanging them up, except they new ones say.. Please do not removed. This is the ____ time we have posted this flyer. Each reposting the flyer number reflects it.

I like that idea.. of this method. #1 it sends a message, sure take it down. Another will be posted. #2 it show the community that someone is nervous about the posting and doesn't wish a quorum to met!! ( Wonder who? )

its' just so frustrating that the board can post things in a public place.. no issues, but a reminder going up to mail your votes in for a recall election keeps getting removed!! ( and it is not even asking to vote the looney president off the island ) But I think it's important for the membership to know that the flyer keeps getting taken DOWN!!

Fiona, posting things without the Board's approval is a no, no in probably 99% of HOA's and I'm sure yours is no exception. The exception would be if the Board was posting anti election notices, then in CA they would have to give the opposition equal opportunity.

Hi Glen, I am sorry it took so long to get back to your response. Yes, we actually post in our public area. We have a posting board specifically for homeowners.. Good News.. I will post this in another thread.
