I would like to publicly thank the owners of HOATalk.com for providing this communications mechanism to us. Being in the computer business, I am quite familiar with the enormous amount of time it takes to moderate an open forum like this, as well as the expense. The moderators have been very graceful in removing the moderation from the website, allowing posts to immediately be posted. IMHO, they are to be commended for this valiant effort to make our information flow more timely, but it is a brave step and we, as members, must moderate ourselves.

We, the members will make or break this forum. There are some excellent posters here and I have learned a lot in my very short tenure on the site. I wish the site had been around when I first became a board member of an HOA many years ago. Since then, I’ve been on several boards in several states, and never seem to stop learning. As the membership roles grow, we will get an even more diverse membership, making it even harder to control.

HOATalk has given us the tools to make this a valuable tool in our board member arsenal. Thank you.

VERY well said Sam. Perhaps as posters we can help by not responding to posters who have an agenda other than to try to help. I apologize for letting my pet peeve about bad HOAs cause me to respond to an unbelievable board Presidents posts yesterday.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and encouragement. It's much appreciated. It's impressive how much people are willing to share and help each other here. We're glad to have helped bring together this great group of people.

Just FYI: There are now about 1,150 members here and we're growing fast. We look forward what 2006 will bring.

I also thank you. I just joined in a few weeks ago, and already have gained very useful information, as well as therapy and assurance that our problems are not the worst out there!! I also want to thank those who care enough to join in and answer questions. It's these sort of folks who keep our culture together!!

Thank you HOA Talk!! I have learned a lot from your expertise and that of other members. With this vast knowledge available to me, I am encouraged to share our HOA experiences and situations with members who have concerns we have dealt with or that we have strong opinions about. When we get multiple responses to our questions, we are capable of making well informed decisions - thanks to your forum this is possible. THANK YOU!!

And my thanks to all also. And Roger B.--no need to apologize for the bad pres.(s)(HA!)--I just wish someone would send a letter to the one we have--she only got on the board to fulfill a personal agenda and it's costing everyone in my sub., and some don't even know it.

But all of that aside, this is the most therapeutic website I've found and also for some reason, on or off the board, I had this feeling these things were happening only in my subdivision. Not that it's a good thing that some of these are happening elsewhere either, but it just helps to have an outlet and someone who knows the law and has common sense. Thank you again.
