I just took over as HOA BK. Am looking for suitable Software for our needs. Downloaded Quickbooks Simple Starter
found it not very compatible. Used to do Church Books and they had a program written for Churches, it understood that money came in without Invoices, members were not Vendors etc. Do HOA's have any directed BK Software Sources.

Use the phrase (HOA Accounting Software) in any search engine and you will find any numbers of vendors looking to sell you customized HOA software. Our MC uses Quickbooks but any good accounting software will do. The homeowners are listed as accounts receivable for their assessments not vendors which are the accounts payable.

I misspoke! I listed them as Customers, but when I tried using Dues as a heading on Invoices the program insisted it was a payable. I then changed it to Annual Dues and it worked. I just found it had to many HOOPS compared to the Churches much simplier, already assigned catagories.
For my business I used Storekeeper and it again was VERY SIMPLE to set-up compared to QB.

You may want to register at regenisis.net (free level) as they have a listing of software for HOAs.

I think Kirk meant "Regenesis.net".
