On Friday, Gov. Crist Thursday signed into law a measure that will directly affect more than 1.4 million condo unit owners. It is CS/HB995. I went on the state's website to read it and it's so disjointed and broken down that I'm having a difficult time trying to read the new laws in it's entirety.

There are several items that will come into effect---some on July 1 and some on October 1. Does anyone know where we can read it in it's ENTIRETY??? I'm trying to find it all in one format. All condo associations need to be aware of these new laws and I'd like to print it.

Oh, Donna, where are you when we need you? Enjoying the Tennesse mountains, I'm sure!

Hi Anna,
Here ya go...

http://myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Documents/loaddoc.aspx?FileName=_h0995er.xml&DocumentType=Bill&BillNumber=0995&Session=2008

It's 87 pages and you can quickly skim through it while looking for strike-outs or underlined text.

Hope this helps,
Ann

PS... The file name is very long. Hope it will work for you.

Gosh Ann, Thank you for the PROMPT and thorough reply!!! I'll print it and make it my "bedtime" reading. You answered faster than our property manager. But he doesn't work weekends...I don't know WHY??? WE DO! LOL
Seriously; this is GREAT! Thanks again!

You're very welcome,Anna. Are you going to print all 87 pages? Gulp!!!!

The reason I was "Johnny on the spot" was because I looked for it for eons yesterday and quickly bookmarked it.

Have fun reading and take your eye drops to bed with ya!

Although this is labeled "condo" The text says "Community Associations"
Does any of this cover HOA's?

It's a lot of reading to do if it's only for condos!

Thanks

Pat

I've only seen "condo"s mentioned and it also refers repeatedly to F.S. 718--which are condo statutes, not homeowner associations.

I looked at it. It seems to be that "Community Associations" cover HOAS.

Here is the staff analysis that explains the bill.

Isn't it nice that the state is planning on taking a third of the condo fund ($10M) to use for "other purposes"? You think Robaino would have thought of that when proposing so many changes to the law. Now the condo owners get to help bail out the state. I guess it makes sense since Florida condo associations are in such good financial shape
